I don't really know what I am doing with photography so I am always amazed at the beauty of my sunset photos. The colors are just so intense. It's the view not the photographer!

This paper doll, held up by my beautiful and talented granddaughter, is, of course, Grandpa Rusty. Notice how sportsy he is with his football shirt (54 is HIS number and his current age). Take note of his cross-training cowboy boots which he wears while bull riding. Doesn't he have a serious, all-about-the-game kind of look on his face? That's our number 54. And, what about that cool baseball hat with a gold star? You just know he's a winner on that team. That's our Grandpa Rusty, our very own, well-loved triathlete.

This beautiful royal blue iris was painted by Ann Caver, a very talented multi-media artist now living in Taos, New Mexico. I am really drawn in by the deep, dark blue of this bearded iris. I'd like to climb right up that "beard" and see what lays inside that beautiful flower...follow the light. I may be attending an art retreat soon in Taos and I hope to be able to spend some time with Ann. She is missed on the seacoast. ThInK bIg, Go PlAcEs, CeLeBrAtE

This is another one of my favorite artists, Carrie Disrud. I have no idea where she is now, but she used to live in Florida, in the Key West area. I love her primitive, colorful art. This painting, if you can believe it, was commissioned for me by my brother for my birthday. How cool is that? I visited Key West only once. I loved the weather, the water, the scooters but wasn't as enamoured as many with Duval Street and all the bars or the shops with all the pink flamingos and palm trees. Did you know that neither are indiginous to Key West? It's just how people imagine Key West so it's what the shops sell. On my one and only trip down to the most southern tip of the United States, I found Carrie's shop off the beaten track. It was a cute little house, converted into her studio/shop, the Calypso Gallery (what a cool name?) on Whitehead Street. Carrie had painted clothes, furniture and canvases and displayed them inside and out. It was my kind of place and I loved ...
